Are we still on Horizon Travels? Luke and I have been asking ourselves this question. We thought it was going to be a time when we were house sitting and traveling through time and space. Now we are renting, looking for work...
Recently, we talked and debated what is the purpose of Horizon Travels, we reflected on the impetus that fuelled us to shake up our lives the way we have. Initially, it was a call to play, to live life joyfully, to set out into the unknown, to open up possibilities for having a family and living freely. AND it still is. We are committed to one full year of Horizon Travels and to writing this blog— so we continue and are so blessed to share with all of you.
From North Vancouver, where we have been in one place for 6 weeks, the longest place since August 31st. This is what has been happening…
1) So much ocean time—we find it deeply nourishing
2) Play! (this is Luke writing this)
We are having a lot of fun and feeling joyous in our new surroundings—the snow has melted and the birds are getting up early to start being wild all day long.
A few days ago I said to Margo, “I know I say this kind of thing a lot, but I think this is the happiest I’ve ever been.” Another time in these past weeks she said to me, “we are like newlyweds!”
There is a new level of joy coursing through me fairly regularly about being in this relationship, being alive and having a horizon of possibilities that feels as infinite and as personal as God herself.

This photo is a reenactment of me chasing Margo outside our house wearing my new sleep pants (which I was wearing outside for the first time... for obvious reasons). I was so engrossed in the morning chase that I didn't notice the woman standing on the road, especially as I stopped chasing for a moment to dance and shake and make animal noises. Our play was interrupted when she loudly said, "do you live there?"
"yes."
"This is a nice neighbourhood you know." "Oh yeah, we are loving it here! My name is Luke and this is my wife Margo, we've been here for a few weeks."
"hmmm..." (not happy).
We live a short walk from Capilano Canyon which has many giant old growth trees and an amazing river running through the canyon. Here are photos of us in the canyon on a secret mission with our capes on.

3 ) The spring! This is a special time to be on our Horizon Travels because it is THE SPRING! The spring is a time of renewal—that’s the first thing that comes to mind. It is a time of so much passion and blossoming. Aligned with what we are growing and building as a foundation.
4) Job searching (this is Luke again): We are both committed to generating more income online to give us the freedom to move around, to live far from cities and to have a wider reach with what we are offering. While settled in North Vancouver however, we are appreciating the opportunity to supplement our income by picking up some work. I've had the great fortune of being hired by two different music therapy companies out here and have started working with clients. Margo continues to see therapy clients and has also just been hired to look after a beautiful, red-headed, three and half month old baby for a few hours a day.
5) The joys of the big city (still Luke): Along with the incredible bounty of blossoming trees on most of the city streets, we are appreciating the quality of live, music and free events this city offers. Margo has been getting connected to the writing community through free events put on at the libraries, and I've been loving the incredible mountain bike trail network here. It truly is world-class.

A wooden berm on one of the trails 15 minutes from our house. This is one of hundreds of trails built to this standard in this area.

This is a little later on the same trail... this bridge to a 4 foot drop is considered the "blue" (intermediate) option, whereas the one in the background is for beginners. The entry bar is set pretty high around here because the advanced trails look like these next photos (not taken by me... not ridden by me either...)
We also had the delight of going to see one of our favourite singers, Ayla Nereo perform at a little club on Main st. in Vancouver. It was like being transported to a gathering of open-hearted beautiful people in a sacred meadow.
Until next time, enjoy the spring, wherever you may be!
