What am I doing?

TAKING THESE SPECTACULAR PHOTOS OF OUR FIRST OCEAN SLEEP

Hwy 1 ~ Big Trees ~ Big Ocean ~ Fun cruising in Quartz (our car) and on our bikes

~ Free Avocados and tasty California strawberries ~ Elephant Seals and Zebras!

November 3rd - We woke up at our surprise Airbnb, which was indeed cozy, however, it was also a shared space and those who we were sharing with were disrespectful of the quiet times. Yes, we were woken up by loud voices, lights, coughing and showers between midnight and 1 am. What I have learned about Airbnb is a refinement of my needs. I will stay with superhosts or hosts who have lots of amazing reviews by women and older people. And I will not stay in shared spaces with other guests. Always good to learn about my needs ;)

Cruising the Coast - I remember this - I have biked many km's

November 4th and 5th

Ocean waves hit hard, they surge the shore and retreat. It was a wonderful white noise machine for sleeping in a packed campground. We left the big cities of the coast and headed into Big Sur area, with the hope to camp in Pfeier Big Sur State Park . The sign read Campground Full— we kept driving with the new hope of Limekiln State Park having sites. The drive kept giving, every corner a vista of a lifetime. Limekiln- campground full- ;( “let’s go down anyways.” We met a lovely camp host, who shared that she had one site left, over flow 1, right under the bridge, next to ocean. We will take it!

It was a neat experience, not great for sleeping. The ocean is wild for me to sleep next to, it reminded me of staying in Mexico at the Palapa. These are two photos featuring Luke's Dad, Keith and Brown Mom, Carolyn.

I will take this moment to thank god, creator, the universe for giving me the privilege to be at the oceanside three times in 14 months.

We experienced the sun sets, hiked history to limekilns built hundreds of years ago, sang in the dark in the middle of a rushing river; Luke crashed himself in the icy cool waves, rock hopped through a river and took a solo hike to a vista. I sang and did yoga on the beach. We saw three shooting stars and we know our spirit baby is with us. And! We saw many dolphins blessing us with their leaps through waves.

We back tracked to Big Sur State Park, which felt a little strange, but I am really glad we did. The park is beautiful and the redwoods tower over, the bay laurel fills the air with a sweet aroma and the river gorge continues to remind me of the precious roll water plays.

I had the best camping sleep yet! Yippy!

On November 6th, we decided that biking to a place with internet would be a good idea. Whoa! It was a mountain climb to an internet-less bakery…ah but really good coffee. My first coffee in a month, a nice treat and time to sit and enjoy it. I sure learned that I am strong :) It was a serious mountain climb. It took about 1/2 hour up and 2 minutes down.

So many gifts of magic up at the bakery too! Lots of signs like, finding dimes, pregnant women, baby's in arms...

Later on the 6th, we decided that an epic hike would be a good idea- luckily we couldn't find the trailhead and ended up taking the beach hike!

November 7th ~ On the road again; we headed down the coast to sleep in Leo Carrillo State Park next to the ocean, just outside Malibu. It was surreal to drive down the coast to LA. I guess I never imagined myself in what seems like a movie place. The highlight by far was the Rookery, a place that attracts thousands of Elephant Seals that come to breed and relax. Otherwise, they spend up to 8 months in the sea, never touching land. Some of them weigh 5000 pounds. What!

Oh yeah there were zebras hanging out with cows too. They were brought there by a very rich man in the 30's; he brought many exotic animals- the zebras did well.

The photo below is our campsite. I am amazed at how dry everything is. Really the wood acts like brittle bones. They still let people have camp fires...

On November 8th we went to bid farewell to the ocean, it was time to head up to the Santa Monica Mountains. We had a session with Kelly Meehan, who lives in Topanga. This is another reason we are on the California coast~ to follow a calling to validate and learn about our babies in spirit.

I will share more about this in the next blog. It warrants a blog of its own.
